Many those of us are certain of hypnosis as pertaining to mind tricks, and physiological mumbo jumbo. However, covert hypnosis has a good number of uses in the sales industry.

There are the majority of hypnosis techniques available for those of us to experiment with, but this method is phase tested. The reason for this is it preys on a person’s mental weaknesses without them noticing.

The principles of covert hypnosis is like any other form of hypnosis. No one can actually hypnotize another person without the other person being willing to have it happen.

All of the hypnosis techniques in use rely on the person being hypnotized to relax, and do the work themselves. The only role of the hypnotist is to provide suggestions, advice, ask questions, and get people to explore their subconscious minds.

However, most of these hypnosis techniques require a person to be in a chair, or lying down. This isn’t very feasible when trying to apply hypnosis to a potential customer as they need to stay on their feet.

The trick is to get someone relaxed enough, and then make the suggestion to them without them noticing. Ideally, you want to do this multiple times but continue to do it without being noticed. The trick behind covert hypnosis is to make hypnotic suggestions without people noticing.

Take a car salesman, for example; to make a sale they have to get inside their customers heads and find their exploitable value areas. These areas are often what the customer judges a vehicle by.

This hypnosis technique has been used for hundreds of years by businessmen and shopkeepers around the globe. When doing this, the salesman has to balance between not being suspicious, and not being pushy.

Once people see that you’re trying to get inside their head and play on their values they tend to get angry and leave. This means the salesman will lose his sale if he’s not careful.

The core values or many people that are looking to buy a car are durability, gas mileage, and warranty. You can sell a person a car that performs horribly in these areas if you can suggest that they don’t need these things.  Again, you have to be careful when you do this, and have to word it to look as if you’re not trying to suggest something.

If you’re successful, the conversation will continue along the path you are making. If you can keep reinforcing this suggestion and keep the conversation going, you can trick a person into believing this is what they want. Get anyone to do anything for you.
