Classic mystery with a twist Death Trance was a spooky novel, largely set in a mansion atop a hill on a private island. Our hero, Alex, survives the traumatic death of his college sweetheart, and travels to see his wheelchair-bound sister to recover. She enduces a trance and leads him through the events that cumulate in the shooting death of Toni, Alex’s ex-girlfriend.The plot raced along, each interruption in the memory greeted by a groan both from character and reader. Alex’s sister Maddy forces him to take breaks to sleep and eat, and each time, the reader is jarred out of the narrative. The finale is completely unexpected, as Maddy discovers the murderer before our hero does. Events in the past catch up to the present, and the conclusion brings Alex face to face with the killer.I enjoyed this book very much. It was a classic murder mystery with a psychological twist. We hear the whole plot as a series of memories, which focus and slow down at key moments. Well written, the prose is sharp and to the point. Well done.

Enjoyed I truly enjoyed this book and found myself rooting for the main characters even as I questioned their choices. A different approach to the suspense novel.

should be a movie This was a great mystery that I could honestly not put down until I finished it. And this is coming from someone who does not read very often because many books drag on and don’t keep your attention. Solving the mystery through hypnosis is a great way to tell the story.
