Hypnosis is a natural state that each of us possesses the power to enter. Some folks are more gifted than other people at entering deep trance (This deep degree of hypnosis is generally called somnambulism). Everybody is capable of entering this somnambulistic degree of trance, only some enter it to a greater extent easily than other people.

Just about every school of thought about mental health defines two major components to the entity we call personality. Many call it Id and Ego;. We’ll call them your Conscious Mind and Subconscious Mind.

Your conscious mind is the part of you that you are conscious of, the component of you that you “think” with. It comprises of all of your conscious thought, and is typically confined to thinking of approximately 7 things – give or take one two -at any given time.

Merely the act of applying hypnosis sets about attaining that compatibility between the conscious and unconscious minds. Hypnosis clears or opens
the channels of communicating between the two, and once the unconscious acquires its reasonable portion of attention, it sets out to create better results.

Essentially, hypnosis permits us to open the unconscious mind to hypnotism or suggestion, when the conscious mind wanders, or is otherwise distracted.

Hypnosis isn’t mind control, brainwashing, sorcery or voodooism. The hypnotiser possesses no extraordinary abilities over the subject. Hypnosis is in reality a combined action, which demands the ample consent of the subject.

In fact, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. The subject goes into his own trance – the hypnotist simply directs the subject through his experience and provides therapeutical suggestions along the way.
